THE RACHEL

It's difficult to wear dungarees without automatically thinking of Rachel from Friends, but there's nothing wrong with a little trend borrowing from the 90's.

THRASHER X FATIMA

As a skater myself, I understand how essential skate brands are to the culture of boarding. They instigated the gentrification of skateboarding, transforming it from a taboo rebellion to something considered a little more artistic - trend.
And, it doesn't hurt that the clothing from Thrasher is so comfy i've been guilty of falling asleep in it.
Attempting to pair it with something other than denim, I opted for a slight sports luxe look with this ribbed midi skirt from Topshop and my trusty Nike Air Max.

The size 18 Jumper

British weather continues its ambiguity - and as ever, my wardrobe continues to attempt to concede. Only recently I found my salvation - this eggshell coloured jumper from Marks and Spencer's was a surprising gem in the mine of clothes aimed at only 50's and over.
Ignoring the fact that it was almost ten sizes (precisely) bigger than my usual size, I embraced the bare skin of my shoulder and slight plunge in the neck and paired it with the most beautiful white culottes from Banana Republic.

FASHION IN FOCUS: NYFW

It’s been an incredibly satisfying week for those of us who wait all year round for New York Fashion Week (when I say Fashion is all I think about, I’m not exaggerating).

This year, the designers have outdone themselves on magnificence, and I’m about to highlight my favourites:

Public School
One of the most important highlights of fashion week for me is being able to discover the up-and-coming talent in the fashion industry. This year, Public School stole the spotlight with their sheer (literally) bravery. The shapeless yet classic, understated yet dressy, provocatively sexy yet stylishly hideous – everything just worked fabulously.

Alexander Wang
He might very well be my favourite designer this year, but that’s not the only reason Wang made my favourites list. His designs were casually rebellious – something only he can create so effortlessly.

Jeremy Scott
Jeremy Scott went all Andy Warhol on our asses. I’m obsessing about the bold colours, the bold prints, the bold hair and makeup – this is a look created for the boldest b*tches.

Hoffman
Boho chic is my favourite kind of chic. I love the vibe that a flowy dress exerts – it’s fresh, it’s holistic, it’s peaceful.
There was so much peace in Mara Hoffman’s S/S 16; I almost went into a coma.

Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham has once again put the Posh in the spice. Burberry inspired plaid print, silhouette drowning capes and clashing prints on a white canvas that refuses to hurt your eyes though you swear it really should.

FATIMA'S FAVORITES - TV SHOWS

  1. GAME OF THRONES - I refuse to believe that I can possibly write any amount of words that will allow me to do justice to this show's magnificence.
  2. TRUE DETECTIVE (season 1) (no, seriously, only season 1) - Filled with philosophy, Matthew Mcconaughey and one of my favourite actors, Woody Harrelson.
  3. HOUSE OF CARDS - a series where the only person I root for is in actual fact a cunning villain played by Kevin Spacey? I'm there.
  4. SONS OF ANARCHY - what? I love motorbikes. and beards. and outlaw gangs.
  5. THE FALL - honestly, anything with Jamie Dornan in it. I would watch Jersey Shore if Jamie Dornan was part of the cast.

BIRDBRAIN

Jumper - Boho
Jeans - Topshop (Joni)
Bag - Henry Holland
Glasses - Afflecks Palace

I have recently admitted to my obsession with cute vintage shops (my mom is still enforcing that I need to see a therapist about it) – but it is quite impossible to refrain from being obsessed with them when most of my closet gems are from cute vintage shops.
This particular gem I found in Clitheroe shop called Boho. The name of the shop immediately suggested that I wouldn’t be walking out empty handed, and my suspicions were confirmed when I came upon the huge furry jumper. Autumn is fast approaching, and Autumn is a difficult season to dress for. It’s not quite cold enough for coats, but not warm enough for nothing. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I think I found my answer in a cute Clitheroe vintage shop.

HOW ABOUT KIMOno

Kimono - Neon Rose
Jeans – Topshop (Joni)
Boots – New Look

Sunglasses – Affleck’s Palace

The Japanese excel at many things – inventing the kimono is one of their most notable accomplishments, in my humble opinion.
However, I may be slightly partial after finding this purple flower design complete with black tassels.
It should be far simpler to assemble an outfit in summer. It is the season of wearing ‘barely anything’.
Unfortunately, I live in Britain.
Summer? Nothing more than the misleading sun you see shining through the window, only to be met with a blast of pneumonia the moment you open the front door wearing your favourite Levi shorts and a tank top.
Well, I found a solution – Kimonos. You can wear a black turtle neck and black distressed knee jeans and still avoid looking funeral ready by adding a statement pattern kimono.
